cotton

Did you know that there are five main types of cotton grown in the world, but California’s farmers focus on growing two varieties, “Upland” and “American Pima”. Cotton is grown in 11 counties in California, from as far north as Glenn County, north of Sacramento, to Imperial County along the Mexican border.

While many people think of fabrics when they think of cotton, the different varieties are also a valuable part of plastics, animal feeds, cosmetics, and even human food!

Most people are familiar with the fluffy white cotton part of the cotton plant, called the boll, but have you ever seen a cotton flower?
